Recent Cases of Monkeypox in Ho Chi Minh City: Updates, Precautions, and Health Guidelines

Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City has recorded another case of monkeypox (Mpox), the city Health Department announced on October 1.

He is a 34-year-old man, living in Binh Chanh district. Notably, the patient has not had contact with foreigners and has not traveled abroad recently.

The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control conducted an investigation into his travel history and compiled a list of people who had close contact with the patient in the 21 days before signs of the disease were discovered. The center asked people in close contact with the patient to self-monitor their health at home for 21 days. If they have symptoms of illness, they should report to the local health post immediately. In addition, people living with the patient must clean and disinfect the entire house, room and the patient’s personal items.

People in close contact with the patient are currently in good health.

As a reminder, on September 22, Ho Chi Minh City also recorded a case of monkeypox. This person from Dong Nai is temporarily residing in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, this patient is still isolated and is in good health.

Since 2022, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded four cases of monkeypox. -VNA
