Recent Earthquake in Colombia: Updates, Impact, and Statistics – November 2023

The Colombian Geological Service reported an earthquake on the night of this holiday Monday, November 6, around 9:45 pm

*According to the report delivered, the epicenter was the municipality of Dabeiba, in Western Antioquia, (at the gateway to Urabá) with a magnitude of 3.7 degrees and a shallow depth (less than 30 kilometers). No material damage has been reported in the area.

The earthquake was felt very lightly in the Aburrá Valley.

Two other similar tremors also occurred on Monday followingnoon. The first of 3.8 degrees, in Bolívar, Valle del Cauca, and the second of 3.0, at 3.0, with a depth of 141 kilometers in Los Santos, Santander.

All without consequences to regret.

According to data from the Colombian Geological Service, in the first half of 2023, 350 events occurred in different areas of the country. March has been the month that has reported the most, with 116, followed by April with 92, May with 74, February with 45 and January with 23 (see graph).

The strongest, so far, was the 6.6 degree that occurred this Wednesday in the Caribbean Sea.
