“Recent Earthquake in Eastern Turkey: Updates and News from AFAD & Elazig”

2023-04-20 06:57:40

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) stated that “an earthquake measuring 4.6 degrees struck the Sevrija region in the state of Elazig in eastern Turkey,” explaining that “the tremor occurred at a depth of 11 kilometers underground.”

For its part, the state of Elazig confirmed that it had not received reports of damage as a result of the tremor.

It should be noted that on February 6, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 degrees and the second 7.6 degrees, followed by thousands of violent followingshocks, leaving more than 52 thousand dead and huge property losses in both countries.
