In recent minutes, a new earthquake occurred in the country, which was recorded by the Colombian Geological Service (SGC). The seismological authority in the country revealed that at 6:14 am this Thursday, September 28, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 took place in the municipality of Villamaría, department of Caldas.

The latter taking into account that only an hour before another earthquake had already occurred at that same point, in Villamaría (Caldas). In that case, the tremor occurred at 5:12 in the morning, with a magnitude of 3.5 Mw and a depth very similar to the most recent one, 4 kilometers.

This has made the Geological Survey alert. In the most recent earthquake, at 6:14 am, not many Colombians have reported feeling it; However, reports have already been made of what occurred an hour before, mainly in the different cities of the Caldense department, while in other parts of the country, such as Medellín and Bogotá, it has been indicated that it was felt mildly.

The tremor occurred at 3:08 am, so it may have surprised many citizens while they were sleeping. This if its magnitude had not been so low, 2.6 Mw, while the depth recorded was superficial, that is, less than 30 kilometers below the ground.

This seismic event occurred less than two hours after another was recorded in the southern region of the country, in the area where Colombia borders with neighboring Ecuador.

This was the first earthquake that occurred on Thursday, occurring at exactly 1:28 am, the Geological Service reported. The reported magnitude was 3.0 on the Mw scale and its depth was also superficial, less than 30 kilometers underground.

Of the three earthquakes that have occurred in the last hours and minutes, without a doubt the one in El Calvario, in Meta, is the one that generates the least surprise in the population.

On the other hand, the occurrence of several tremors has already been explained by the seismological authority. In fact, they recently published on their official X profile, formerly Twitter, an interesting exercise in which they compiled the seismic events that occurred in Colombia between midnight on September 15 and 11:59 pm on September 21 .

A period of one week in which 569 earthquakes were reported, some of them with considerable magnitudes of 5.0 and 4.0 in the regions of Norte de Santander and Santander, areas recognized by the Geological Service as some of the greatest seismic activity in the country.
