A young Cuban barely 20 years old committed suicide in the eastern province of Holguín this Tuesday.
Sources revealed to the independent media CyberCuba that the young man had recently completed the Compulsory Military Service (SMA).
It also transpired that he committed suicide on Tuesday at his home.
Lisaydis Velázquez, who is the cousin of the deceased, identified the young man as Gabriel López Ávila and explained that he died after harming himself.
“He himself stabbed himself in the stomach,” he said.
According to the report, “López Ávila lived with his father and grandfather on a small farm located in a field in the town of San Germán, Urbano Noris municipality in Holguin.”
The young woman commented that the suicide occurred in her own home on Tuesday, and that the family is dismayed because “he was a quiet boy” who accompanied his father when he worked on his farm.
Meanwhile, another close friend of the young man indicated that suddenly “blood rose to his head” and he fatally injured himself with a knife.
This is the second case of suicide reported this Wednesday after confirming the discovery of the lifeless body of a Cuban reported missing in the province of Guantanamo.
The young man was identified as Reinier Leyva Thomas.
The Cuban journalist Miguel Reyes, precisely who covered the case of the disappearance, confirmed that the body was found and said that it was presumably a suicide.
“Deceased citizen reported missing appears… He took his own life,” said the reporter this morning, while thanking “the help and collaboration of the users of the page” and conveyed his condolences to family and friends.
