NASCAR did a crash test with the proposed updates to reconstruct the Ryan Larson-Preece crash. One car was set at a 55-degree angle (Larson’s car angle) with the other going 59 mph (Preece’s car was going 59 mph faster than Larson’s in the crash). Here is what they saw:
