MIAMI — Matt Olson added another layer to what has already been an incredible season on Saturday, with 14 games still to play.
In the sixth inning at loanDepot Park against the Marlins, Olson hit his 52nd home run of the season, which came off the bat at 107.7 mph and had a projected distance of 433 feet, according to Statcast.
In this way, Olson surpassed Curacao’s Andruw Jones (2005) to set a Braves franchise record for home runs in a season, just four days after he tied the record with his 51st home run.
Olson is one of five Braves players with 30 or more home runs this season after Curacao’s Ozzie Albies hit his 30th home run in the top of the first inning on Saturday.
Atlanta has made a lot of history in 2023 when it comes to home runs and Albies’ home run helped the Braves equal the 2019 Twins’ record for most players with 30 or more homers in a season.
