Record-Breaking Numbers: Hajj Pilgrims Flock to Haramain High-Speed Train

Riyadh: A huge increase in the number of people using the Haramain high-speed train during Hajj. Seven and a half million people used the Haramain train service to travel between Makkah and Madinah. Haramain Railways said that 3,627 services were conducted during Hajj.

During the past Hajj alone, around seven and a half lakh people traveled by high-speed train between Makkah and Madinah. The Saudi Railway Company has announced that there has been a 96 percent increase in the number of passengers compared to last year’s Hajj season. The Railways explained this while announcing the successful completion of Hajj Kala project of Haramain Railway. Haramain Railway operated 3627 trips during last Hajj. This shows an increase of 79 percent compared to the previous year.

Each trip was fast. Realizing that the number of passengers is increasing, on peak days up to 126 trips are made per day. As a part of increasing travel facilities for Hajj pilgrims, Atika services have already been announced. 3,400 trips were scheduled besides 227 additional trips.

98% of the services were on time. 131 services were conducted on the 7th of Dhul Hajj. It was the busiest day in the history of the Haramain Railway.
