Brazil recorded a trade balance of $9.767 billion in August, government data showed on Friday, beating market estimates of a trade balance of $9.75 billion.

The month’s performance is explained by a 1.4% increase in the value of exports compared to the same period of 2022, while imports fell by 19.6%.

Imports totaled $21.444 billion and exports $31.211 billion.

The data also shows that the cumulative trade surplus for this year through August stands at $63.322 billion, up 44.8 percent from a year ago.
