The Taiwan Railway Bureau issued a press release today stating that this year’s Dragon Boat Festival holiday transportation period will be from June 21 to June 25. The Taiwan Railway Bureau said that during the transportation period, a total of more than 314 million train seat kilometers and more than 2 million seats will be provided. Both hit record highs, an increase of about 47.8% compared with last year.
The Taiwan Railway Bureau stated that it will add 167 additional trains, including 20 3000-type cross-line trains (via the North or South Line) to facilitate passengers traveling to and from Huadong in the central region, without having to get off at Taipei or Kaohsiung to transfer.
The Taiwan Railway Bureau stated that Du Wei, director of the Taiwan Railways, instructed that the six shunting yards in Qidu, Changhua, Chaozhou, Shulin, Hualien, and Taitung should prepare sufficient reserve marshalling and crew manpower, and additional shuttles can be opened according to demand.
The Taiwan Railway Administration stated that according to statistics, the Taiwan Railway Administration’s traffic volume on the 21st reached 713,171 people, of which 55,984 people on the eastern trunk line, all reached the estimated traffic volume; it is expected that the number of passengers on the Dragon Boat Festival today will reach 635,000 people.
