New elements of the tourist submersible that imploded in June in the North Atlantic were recovered in early October, as well as other “suspected human remains,” the US Coast Guard announced.

The “Titan”, a small submersible of regarding 6.5 meters in length, submerged on June 18 to observe the remains of the Titanic and was to return to the surface seven hours later, but, when two hours had not yet elapsed, it was lost contact with the ship.

The recovered items were transferred to a United States port for analysis, the Coast Guard added in a statement published on Tuesday, in which it stated that American and Canadian investigators were on board during the transfer operations.

At the end of June, the first remains were found on the seabed, regarding 500 meters from the remains of the Titanic and almost 4,000 meters deep, off the coast of Newfoundland (Canada). Possible human remains were also recovered.

The most famous ocean liner in the world sank in 1912 following colliding with an iceberg on its maiden voyage between England and New York with 2,224 people on board, 1,500 of whom died.
