Rockstar Games released Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, and it was accompanied by the popular but often overlooked Red Dead Online, which expanded on the campaign’s cowboy theme. One Red Dead Online fan spotted a strange three-letter message among the dead trees in the vast western landscape.

Reddit User Writking recently posted an image of his adventure in Red Dead Online in which he discovered several trees coming together to form one word. Like Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games’ online component of the game offers a variety of easter eggs and references, from funny to creepy.

Near a circle of burnt trees atop the Roanoke Range in the Washita Mountains, Writking found that five trees combined into a three-letter word “WHY” (why) when viewed from the right angle. The aforementioned Red Dead Online easter egg joins a long line of mysterious objects in Rockstar Games’ open world. Other fans have added that lightning always strikes these trees at 22:00 if the player is wearing Viking gear in single player mode.
