Red Wednesday: Churches will be red tomorrow for persecuted Christians!

UK: It is only hours before the international observance of ‘Red Wednesday’ organized by the pontifical organization ‘Aid to the Church in Need’ (ACN) to declare solidarity with Christians who are persecuted for their faith worldwide and to expose the extent of anti-Christian persecution to the world. Tomorrow, November 23, this time ‘Red Wednesday’ will be observed.

A major feature of the day is the coloring of prominent structures including temples in red, a symbol of martyrdom. Many churches, memorials and public buildings will join forces this year in an effort to draw world attention to persecuted Christians around the world, organizers said. Along with this, ‘ACN’ has also submitted a special report on anti-Christian persecution to the UK Parliament.

The ‘Red Week’ campaign organized since 2015 by ‘ACN’, which works among persecuted Christians, is observed as ‘Red Wednesday’. This year, Red Week will be observed from November 16 to 23. The ‘Red Week’ campaign began on November 16 with a service organized at St. Karl’s Cathedral in Vienna, the Austrian capital.

Cathedrals in Montreal and Toronto, Canada, Montmartre Basilica in Paris, and important buildings in Slovakia will be among the structures that will wear red. In addition, churches and schools in various dioceses are participating. This time, a special instruction has been given to flash the red lights only for a short time. Also, temple bells will ring.
