We have in our hands one of the cell phones most desired by Brazilians today, the Redmi Note 12. The model we are testing now is the 4G version, but there is also a 5G one that will pass through our stands in the future. What does Xiaomi’s much-hyped mid-range cell phone have to offer? Let’s find out.
The design is updated with a flatter and cleaner look, bringing minor differences to the 5G variant. There is a biometric reader integrated into the power button that responds well, a standard headphone jack and a dedicated slot for memory cards.
The multimedia part is due to the 6.67-inch screen with Full HD + resolution and 120 Hz AMOLED panel that achieves strong brightness and displays beautiful colors. We only have a sound output that limits the audio to mono and the power and quality are below average.
Equipping the Redmi Note 12 4G we have the Snapdragon 685 with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It let down in our multitasking test by struggling to hold apps and games open in the background; something that has become common in Xiaomi intermediaries. In games, it goes well, despite not running everything at maximum.
The 5,000 mAh battery yields a lot and even exceeded 28 hours of moderate use in our standardized test. The 33W charger takes 1 hour to fully fill the battery. The 50 MP camera takes good daytime photos and even gets decent images at night with the night mode. The ultra-wide is more limited and suffers in places with low light. The same happens with the front one that makes selfies blurry at night.
