Jonathan India and Kyle Farmer each drove in two runs, Donovan Solano added a solo homer and the Cincinnati Reds snapped an eight-game home losing streak against the Boston Red Sox, whom they beat 5-1 on Wednesday.
India twice drove in Stuart Fairchild, including the tiebreaker in the fifth inning, in which Cincinnati scored three runs. India stole second before Farmer hit an infield single to drive in two runs in the Reds’ first victory over Boston since June 13, 2008.
Solano chipped in a safety run with a line drive to right-center field in the eighth inning.
Chase Anderson (2-3) allowed three hits and one run without giving up walks and with four strikeouts. He got his second win in a row in his fifth start of the season.
Anderson, who is in his third organization this season, also hit a batter.
Fernando Cruz, Reiver Sanmartin and Derek Law combined to cover 3 1/3 innings of 3 hits. Alexis Díaz got the last two outs, causing a double play, to reach eight saves.
Boston (72-76), the last place in the AL East, had won two in a row and three of four.
The Reds (73-75) had lost four of their last five and 10 of 12. They are in fourth place in the NL Central.
For the Red Sox, Rafael Devers 4-2 with a run scored. Puerto Rican Enrique Hernández 3-0.
For the Reds, Colombian Donovan Solano 4-1 with a run scored and one produced. The Mexican Alejo López 3-0. The Dominican Aristides Aquino 4-0.
