Reeling in Prosperity: Ñeembucú’s Breakthrough Fish Breeding Project Makes Waves in Paraguay

Asunción, IP Agency.- Representatives of different institutions met in Pilar, with the purpose of advancing a project to strengthen fish farming as an economic alternative for rural families in the department of Ñeembucú, an initiative that has the support of the Yacyretá Binational Entity.

The governor of Ñeembucú, Víctor Hugo Fornerón, who chaired the meeting, said that the Government will provide sufficient support so that fish farming in ponds is incorporated as a productive activity in the communities.

In addition, he expressed the need for institutions to work on initiatives to repopulate rivers, EBY reported.

“We are the only department that has coasts on the two most important rivers; Paraguay and Paraná. “We have the political will, we have the resources and the support of numerous institutions to be able to develop these projects,” he said.

Teresita Rojas, head of the Fish Fauna Program of the Yacyretá Binational Entity, explained the new techniques currently available for fish farming.
