Musk raised the number to 10,000 for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified accounts, and 500 for new accounts, indicating that his decision aims to prevent artificial intelligence companies from exploiting the platform’s data.

Twitter is among the most popular social media platforms. According to the data of the current year, the total number of its users exceeds 353 million users, and the number of active users per month reaches 330 million.

The number of Twitter users in the current year decreased by nearly 4% from last year, which followers linked to Musk’s acquisition of the platform.

Abdul Latif Najm, an expert in digital media, explained that Musk, since his acquisition of Twitter, issues decisions that some followers find strange, most notably paying a fee to verify accounts.

He added, in an interview with the evening program on Al-Jazeera Mubasher, that “Mask is, in the end, a businessman looking for profit, while the platform was suffering from problems with that.”

The digital expert believed that Musk’s decision was primarily driven by the profit side, before it was protecting Twitter data from artificial intelligence sites, and that he was trying to push users to buy authentication marks to obtain privileges.

Najm said that the user cannot choose the type of tweets that may appear to him, considering that the matter will affect the accounts of news channels and websites as well, and may limit their access to the user.

He pointed out that Musk had pointed out earlier that “news sites also consume Twitter data” and that he wanted to restore the platform to its social character.

And the digital expert considered that Musk would not declare that his goal is economic, while constantly clarifying that his goal is for the platform to become reliable with its news and by fighting false accounts.

Blogger Pat Lawler published a video clip in which he mocked Elon Musk, indicating that he was unable to control the platform he had purchased, and said that Twitter did not pay certain servers to reduce costs, which caused the blocking of service.

The activist said in the clip that all the competent Twitter programmers left it, and that those who work with him probably do not know where the problem is, which made Musk limit the number of tweets that reach users.

The blogger considered that “incompetence is what drove Musk here,” and mocked the idea that Musk prevents users from using his platform, and went on to say, “Money does not mean intelligence, competence, or success.”

A number of activists participated in the controversy over Musk’s decision, and an account commenting on the blogger Lawler’s video said, “For simplicity, group, in order for Twitter to work normally, it needs, for example, a thousand servers (servers).
