Abu Dhabi, September 28 / WAM / The Cybersecurity Council of the Government of the United Arab Emirates, from the 9th to the 12th of next October, will organize the Regional Cybersecurity Week… in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ARCC). Under the title “General Perspective of the Rapid Evolution of Cyber ​​Threats,” at the Rixos Saadiyat Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The Regional Cybersecurity Week 2023 is the largest cyber event in the Arab and Islamic countries, which will be held under the sponsorship of the United Arab Emirates.
The week – in which 100 experts and speakers from 70 countries participate, including the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in addition to 10 international organizations – discusses the best international strategies and experiences in the field of the cybersecurity industry.
Cyber ​​attack simulation exercises will also be conducted with more than 5 realistic scenarios. For the first time, a virtual infrastructure model of the country will be displayed, allowing the simulation and experience of cyber attacks and their impact, which is reflected directly on the model to embody a realistic picture of the harm and danger of these attacks on the various sectors in the country.
The week includes about 50 events that revolve between a theme and an idea that highlight the most important developments in the field of cybersecurity and security threats and risks in the information arena, and learn about strategies to confront the cybersecurity challenge at the national levels, especially governments, basic national institutions and vital industries, in addition to responding effectively to incidents. Information security, and finding preventive measures to avoid exposure to it and reduce the scope of its effects.
The week’s activities will be preceded by a meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Centers for Cybersecurity of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on October 8, to discuss and determine priorities and initiatives of common interest.
The events also include the 11th Regional Cybersecurity Conference “Innovation in Cybersecurity”, the 11th Regional Cybersecurity Exercise, the FIRST Symposium, the 15th Annual Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Cybersecurity Centers (OIC-CERT), and the Arab Meeting of the Heads and Representatives of the Centers. National Cyber ​​Security in the Arab Region.
On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cybersecurity Council of the UAE Government, stressed the importance of the conference, as it contributes to creating a cyber culture, and contributes to reading challenges, developing solutions, and exchanging visions to confront any emergency.
He said that this week, with its attendance of 70 countries, 50 events, and 100 specialized experts from various countries, is an important opportunity to unify visions and collective cooperation to confront risks. He added that cybersecurity has now become an integral part of the components of countries and their economies, noting that the size of the global digital economy is increasing and expanding, and it is expected to reach about 20 trillion US dollars in 2025, and that the volume of cybercrime is increasing, leading to global economic losses. It is estimated at about 40% of the size of the digital economy and is expected to increase.
