Regional Logistics Meetings in Agadir: Logistics at the Service of the Agri-food Sector and the Territory

The work of the 2nd stage of the regional logistics meetings (RRL) was held on Friday in Agadir, under the theme “Logistics at the service of the agri-food sector and the territory”.

Organized by the International Transport and Logistics Exhibition for Africa and the Mediterranean (Logismed), under the aegis of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, in partnership with the Moroccan Logistics Development Agency (AMDL) , the Port Authority of Tangier Med, the Council of the Souss-Massa region and other partners, this event aims to discuss the current realities of the relationship between logistics and the territory, but also the challenges of coming.

The objective of these RRLs, the first stage of which took place last December in Tangier, is to make local, public and private players aware of the challenges of logistics, which in a few years has become an essential element of development and territorial planning.

The aim is to highlight the sector’s role in attracting investment and creating jobs, as well as its contribution to the growth and competitiveness of companies and sectors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of this 2nd stage of the RRL, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, stressed that this conclave is intended as a platform for exchange between the various actors operating in the field. logistics able to support the development process experienced by the Kingdom and discuss issues related to logistics at the level of each region.

And to add that the choice of the Souss-Massa region to host the 2nd stage of the RRL is motivated by the development recorded at the level of this region in the industrial, commercial and agricultural fields, noting that these activities require effective support on the logistics plan.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics, through the Moroccan Logistics Development Agency (AMDL), and in close collaboration with its partners, has begun the implementation of the national logistics strategy in the region of Souss-Massa, he noted, noting that the efforts undertaken have enabled the development of the logistics plan for Souss-Massa.

In this sense, the Minister recalled the launch in May 2021, of the development works of the first phase of the Logistics Zone south of Ait-Melloul, at the level of the territorial municipality of Lqliaa, (Prefecture of Inezgane-Aït Melloul), specifying that the overall investment necessary for the development of the project which covers an area of ​​45 ha, is estimated at 350 million Dirhams.

For his part, the president of the Logismed exhibition, Ali Berrada, indicated that transport and logistics represent an exciting sector, with a future, bringing progress and many challenges, ensuring that this sector remains essential to the national economy. .

And to continue that the RRL constitute an itinerant concept and take into account the specificities and challenges of each region, noting that it is a question of adapting these meetings to the specific needs of the territory and its economy.

These regional logistics meetings aim to bring together public and private players to share expertise and ambitions and contribute to ensuring that logistics is integrated into regional planning and development plans, he said. underline.

For his part, the President of the Council of the region, Karim Achengli, emphasized the importance of the logistics sector as a major lever for development, reviewing the major achievements recorded in this area at the level of the Souss-Massa region.

This 2nd stage of the RRL was marked by the organization of a series of conferences, moments of networking and an exhibition of the offer of products and services of the partners of the event.

In addition, the Minister held at the headquarters of the Wilaya of Souss-Massa, a meeting focused on road safety, in the presence in particular of the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, Governor of the Prefecture of Agadir-Ida Outanane, Ahmed Hajji .

Subsequently, Mr. Abdeljalil paid a visit to the site of the Logistics Zone south of Ait-Melloul during which he proceeded to the presentation of the logistics platform of Ait-Melloul.

This project will make it possible to achieve a set of objectives and impacts, including in particular the gain in competitiveness of companies and the strengthening of the vocation of Souss-Massa as a platform for exchanges, in particular towards the national market, and beyond towards the African markets.
