Regional Mortgages in Russia: Strengthening Personnel Policies and Government Support

2023-12-30 23:28:00

Russian regions may have their own mortgages, which will help strengthen personnel policies. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov.

“The government can either subsidize mortgage interest rates in the regions, or create some measures to support mortgage programs. The Central Bank might give relief to banks in specific territories of Russia,” Parliamentary Gazette reports Aksakov’s words.

The head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market believes that the idea of regional mortgages can be implemented at the beginning of 2024. He added that it is necessary to identify regions for such mortgages, where the population has low incomes or unfavorable conditions for mortgage programs.

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the preferential mortgage until July 1, 2024. The rate on it was increased from 7% to 8%.
