Although Bischofshofen has recently outstripped its competitor St. Johann in sporting terms, the record of the current national champions against their arch-rival is clearly negative. It’s a special duel for many players because a lot of them have a BSK past,” explains St. Johann coach Ernst Lottermoser. On Friday (7 p.m.) the two Pongau rivals will face each other in the fifth round of the Westliga in Bischofshofen. “After three defeats we were finally able to get our first win and we’re going into the game with confidence,” says Lottermoser, who doesn’t have to do without a player.

For Lottermoser, the fans are another reason for the strength of the derby: “The region keeps its fingers crossed for us in the derby. Many people from Pongau appreciate our path and support us again and again loudly against Bischofshofen. Among them are many from Bischofshofen.”
