“Regulating Real Estate Ownership of Diplomatic Missions in Qatar: Cabinet Approves Committee and Investment Opportunities for Foreigners”

Doha: The cabinet has approved the draft cabinet decision to set up a committee to regulate real estate ownership of diplomatic and consular missions in the country. The approval was given in a cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Al Attiyah at the Amiri Diwan.

The main task of the committee is to study the applications for property ownership submitted by the diplomatic and consular missions and submit them to the Minister with necessary recommendations. The committee will also be responsible for acquiring the property or constructing the building and recommending conditions for the missions etc. and submitting them to the Minister.

The cabinet also approved a recommendation to increase capital investment by foreigners to 100 percent in Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC). QWC is a Qatari public share holding company listed on the Stock Exchange.

The Cabinet meeting also approved the draft resolution of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Financial Market Authority for a mechanism to settle disputes over securities related transactions through arbitration.
