EU Justice Ministers held an informal meeting in Budapest on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Justice Minister Bence Tuzson.
“In the area of judicial cooperation, the priority of the Hungarian Presidency is to strengthen Europe’s legal competitiveness,” said the host. Digitalisation of the judiciary, regulation and the safe use of AI in the justice sector will be among the topics for the next six months. This is an area with untapped innovation potential that could give Europe a major competitive advantage and change people’s daily lives, said Tuzson.
On Tuesday, EU ministers debated simplifying complex EU law for cross-border civil cases, strengthening the legal position of SMEs in the EU and better handling of disputes in contracts via online marketplaces.
