Actress, playwright, dancer and director, the lively Lætitia Dosch, recently seen in The Kings of the track, is a judge at the Reims Polar festival. And will be showing two films at the next Cannes Film Festival.

Why did you agree to be a judge at the Reims Polar festival?
I wanted to see surveys. I’m very polar at the moment. I saw Killers of the Flower Moonthen I read the book, I watched Sambre, and I also read the book… I like the darkness, the investigations, when the cops are looking, the viewer questions. This is what I came here to look for.

Have you ever acted in a thriller?
Never !

The Kings of the track by Thierry Klifa is more of a detective comedy.
I play a detective, I investigate, but the tone remains very light. I already played in a genre film, Acidbut I would love to be in a very dark thriller, with a very tortured character.

For years, you seem to have multiplied films, short films, plays, contemporary dance?
I’ve always been offered interesting things and if not, I launch into my own projects. I started with stand-up in 2010, a different world from now, and I wrote a text about a girl who wants to do a comedy show with jokes about disabled people, Jews, old people… It shocked , but we talked about it a lot. And I like ambiguity! My last piece was Hatea duet with a horse that I played between 2018 and 2021. Then I did radio, Radio Tree, around ecology with plants that come to complain about their condition. I interpreted the tree psychologist who presented and listened to the other trees.

Very quickly, you toured with Justine Triet.
A short film then his first feature. We met at a concert where I was a backup singer. We hooked up straight away. The battle of Solferino made some noise, but my big break is Young womanwhich won the Camera d’Or at Cannes.

Since then, you have been making the big gap between auteur cinema like Passion simpleaccording to Annie Ernaux, and more popular films like Irreduciblea comedy by and with Jérôme Commandeur.
American actors do that often, right? In life, I like to play and write, to multiply different experiences. I disguise myself a lot, I move forward in a mask.

You have just made your first film, The Trial of a Dog.
I had heard about a dog trial. I investigated and I saw that with such a subject, I could talk about everything that interests me: women, animals, the link to other species… It’s the story of the trial of a dog who bit a woman in the face, a trial that will set the city on fire… I worked for four years, between writing, financing, and even the casting which brings together François Damiens, myself, Jean- Pascal Zadi, Anne Dorval and all my Swiss friends…

And this first film will be in Cannes!
(She has a huge smile) They have seen 2,000 films and they select mine! Something sick! I didn’t think a comedy could go to Cannes. On a film, you are alone and the festival validates my film, that means that I didn’t do something bad. I’m so happy that it’s being brought to light. Cannes also selected Jim’s Novelby the Larrieu brothers in which I play.

What are your projects ?
Nothing, I have nothing. I’m empty. I need rest and nature.
