Release Date for The Wonderfools Announced: Cast, Trailer & Plot of Netflix’s 2026 Korean Superhero Comedy

Netflix has announced the release date for its upcoming Korean supernatural comedy series The Wonderfools, set for May 15, 2026. The series, created by Kang Eun-kyung — known for her function on Dr. Romantic and Bread, Love and Dreams — will premiere globally on the streaming platform with all eight episodes released simultaneously.

Production on The Wonderfools began in October 2024 and concluded in June 2025, spanning nine months of filming. Post-production, including editing and visual effects, took approximately ten months, aligning with the announced release window.

The series is set in 1999 in the fictional city of Haeseong, where ordinary residents suddenly gain uncontrollable supernatural abilities. These powers lead to chaos and mishaps as the newly empowered individuals grapple with their changes. They eventually unite to confront Ha Won-do, a villain seeking to disrupt the city’s peace.

Cha Eun-woo stars as Lee Woon-jung, a meticulous civic servant who gains telekinetic abilities, allowing him to move objects with his mind. He is known for his roles in True Beauty, A Good Day to Be a Dog, and Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung. Park Eun-bin plays Eun Chae-ni, a woman who can teleport instantaneously, often appearing in unexpected places, leading to comedic and chaotic situations. Her prior credits include Extraordinary Attorney Woo and The King’s Affection.

The ensemble cast includes Choi Dae-hoon as Son Kyung-hoon, who gains the power to make objects stick to his hands; Im Seong-jae as Kang Ro-bin, who can rip and lift heavy objects; Kim Hae-sook as Kim Jeon-bok, Eun Chae-ni’s grandmother with a mysterious past; and Son Hyun-joo as Ha Won-do, the antagonistic figure whose motivations drive the central conflict.

Netflix released two official teasers for The Wonderfools on April 17, 2026: a 1-minute-and-7-second trailer and a 21-second teaser, both available on its global YouTube channel. The trailers highlight the show’s blend of supernatural action, 1990s nostalgia, and comedic tone, drawing comparisons to series like Moving and Strong Woman Do Bong-soon.

The series is a co-production between Nangmancrew, Kakao Entertainment, and Fantagio. It will be available exclusively on Netflix, requiring a subscription for access. As of the latest pricing update, Netflix’s standard plan begins at $8.99 per month in select markets.

Recent public attention has focused on Cha Eun-woo following a legal resolution related to tax reporting. In a statement issued after the conclusion of the National Tax Service’s review, he said, “I respect the National Tax Service’s procedures and conclusions, and to prevent further confusion, I have paid all related taxes. Having carried out my activities with so much love and support, I take this matter very seriously. If there were aspects I did not examine carefully enough, I take full responsibility for that as well.” Netflix has not issued any statement regarding the matter, and the company confirms that The Wonderfools remains on schedule for its May 15, 2026 release.
