This Wednesday the news broke that Burt Young, the actor who played Paulie in the Rocky Balboa saga, died at the age of 83. His daughter Anne Morea confirmed to The New York Times that his death occurred on October 8, although the causes of his death are still unknown.
The interpreter won the hearts of all fans of the saga for the endearing relationship he had with the character of Sylvester Stallone. His real name was Gerald Tommaso DeLouise. In 1976, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the first ‘Rocky’ film.

In addition to being an actor, he was a former sailor, a former professional boxer and a painter. He worked on more than 160 film and television projects, although most will always remember him for the role of Paulie Pennino in the saga that starred Stallone. He also participated in Chinatown, The Gambler and Once Upon a Time in America, among other films.

Young was born on April 30, 1940, in Queens, New York. He served in the United States Marine Corps between 1957 and 1959. At the same time, he won 32 of 34 boxing matches, becoming a professional, where he obtained a record of 17 victories and no defeats.
