Former football star OJ Simpson has died at the age of 76. His family announced this on Thursday afternoon. Simpson succumbed to cancer in the presence of his children and grandchildren.

Simpson was one of the best running backs in the NFL between 1969 and 1979 with the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers and was once even named the best player in the American Football League. He has been in the US Sports Hall of Fame since 1985.

In 2008, Simpson still went to prison because he used gunpoint to force two collectors of fan items to hand over memorabilia. Between October 2017 and October 2017, he spent almost nine years in prison for robbery and hostage-taking.

Almost seven years later, on April 10, 2024, OJ Simpson died at the age of 76. (nih)
