Remembering Tennis Reporter Mike Dickson: Tributes and Condolences from the Australian Open and Beyond

Tennis reporter Mike Dickson from the British newspaper “Daily Mail” died unexpectedly at the age of 59 while reporting on the Australian Open. He suddenly collapsed on site and died shortly followingwards. His death was confirmed on Wednesday by his family on social media and by his employer. Dickson left behind his wife and three children.

Dickson’s wife Lucy wrote in a joint family statement: “We are devastated to announce that our wonderful husband and father Mike collapsed and died at the Australian Open in Melbourne.” He lived his dream and was a great person. “We will miss him very much,” she added. Dickson had been a sports journalist at the Daily Mail since 1990, covering tennis and cricket.

Djokovic also reacts

World number one Novak Djokovic also expressed his condolences on Twitter. “My condolences to the family of Mike Dickson. Rest in peace,” wrote the Serbian superstar.
