Local San Diego law enforcement sources told TMZ that officers responded to a 911 call Tuesday morning from Mr. Christopher’s apartment.

According to the source in question, a close friend of Tyler Christopher had entered the apartment using a key given to him by the late actor.

The friend, who has not yet been identified, found the man dead in the bedroom. Reports also indicate that Christopher had been dead for some time now.

Maurice Benard, his colleague in “General Hospital”, later confirmed the actor’s death.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “Tyler died this morning following a heart attack at his apartment in San Diego.”
