Remove reimagined by its peers

The musical collaboration pushed to its climax. This is the experience carried out by the Jura musician Remove, alias Josué Salomon. He released his album “Remix & Rework” on Friday. This is the third and final opus of the “Carte Blanche” project. A project that has been collaborative from the start. Remove has invited other musicians to come and bring their touch to several pieces of the first two galettes (Carte Blanche part 1 and part 2). But for this third part, the artist wanted to push the concept even further. He transmitted the pieces of the 2e album (Anti-genre: carte blanche part.2) to several artists and let them appropriate the tracks so that they could arrange them in their own way, with their sounds. The result is now a sort of compilation with varied sounds and influences, sometimes pop, rap, electro or metal. “I also had this need to put myself in a little danger, so as not to go around in circles. I’ve always been very curious about other people’s musical understanding, so as not to stay focused on my own” explains the artist.

A loss of control means freedom

Among the artists who have lent themselves to the game we find in particular Lou Rid, Express Therapy, Wet Cloths, Léa Martinez, or Dubuk. No instructions were given to them. They were able to rework a piece of Remove of their choice at will, so much so that the Jura resident sometimes did not recognize the basic materials. “That’s what I wanted,” he explains. With this project, the songs I composed no longer belong to me. I was looking for that loss of control. The album, like the two previous ones, is self-produced by Remove, a way for the artist to ensure a form of creative freedom.
