2024-01-26 13:11:51

Renault Group Morocco reaffirmed its industrial and commercial leadership in 2023, thus remaining a strategic pillar of the Group’s global system, with more than a third of new vehicle sales on the national market and nearly two thirds of industry exports. Moroccan automobile.

This is the assessment made by the management staff of the diamond firm in the Kingdom, as part of a press conference dedicated exclusively to the assessment of its activities in the Kingdom.

As highlighted by Mohamed Bachiri, Director of Renault Group Maroc, the production of the diamond firm’s two factories in the Kingdom saw an increase of 9.3% compared to the previous year with a total of 382,661 vehicles manufactured. . In detail, the Tangier factory manufactured 287,860 vehicles, an increase of 12.6% compared to 2022. As for the Somaca factory, it achieved a new production record of 94,801 vehicles, exceeding the production of the previous year by a few hundred vehicles. With an average of 1,765 vehicles produced per day, production at the Tangier and Casablanca factories represents 17% of the Group’s sales worldwide.

What about exports? Mr. Bachiri stressed that Renault Group Maroc exported nearly 90% of the production of its two factories. Concretely, the Tangier factory shipped nearly 269,515 vehicles, or nearly 94% of its production, while the Casablanca factory exported more than 74,140, or nearly 78% of its production. In total, 343,652 vehicles were exported in 2023 to 68 destinations around the world, or two thirds of the Kingdom’s vehicle exports.

A pace which should increase, especially since in 2023, new industrial projects have been announced on Moroccan soil. This is the case for the production of the Dacia Jogger in the thermal version and in the hybrid version which was assigned to the Tangier factory. Should we also add at the Melloussa factory the start of production of the Mobilize Duo, a two-seater electric quadricycle, Somaca is not left out since for several months it has hosted the production of the Renault Kardian, a B-segment SUV for international markets.

“I would like to emphasize that Renault Group Maroc continues its commitment to the development of its industrial ecosystem in the Kingdom. We exceeded our commitments made with the Kingdom at the end of 2023 a year in advance with a local integration rate, excluding mechanics, of 65.2% in 2022 compared to a target of 65% in 2023 and a turnover local sourcing of 1.86 billion euros in 2022 compared to a target of 1.5 billion euros in 2023. An increase of 40% compared to the year 2021,” continues Mr. Bachiri.

And taking into account the industrialization of new vehicles, the total number of suppliers in the Renault Group ecosystem increased from 26 in 2016 to 87 in 2023, or 11 additional equipment manufacturers. It remains to add the integration of the sourcing of raw materials, notably through the strategic partnership concluded between Renault Group and Managem Group for a supply of Moroccan cobalt intended for electric vehicle batteries. Still, the diamond firm is working hard to develop the 2nd phase of its ecosystem, targeting more than 3 billion euros in local sourcing and a local integration rate (excluding mechanics) by 80% by 2030.
