Republicans Launch Investigation into President Biden: Allegations of Abuse of Power and Failure to Perform Duties

On Friday, Republicans in the US House of Representatives began taking preliminary measures to isolate President Joe Biden, accusing him of abuse of power and failure to perform his duty as president of the United States.

A bill was passed to begin an investigation of alleged wrongdoing against the Democratic President, Biden, and his family and to refer those accusations to the Homeland Security and Judiciary Committees of the House of Representatives.

The vote was on a partisan basis, as 219 Republican members voted in favor, while 208 Democratic members voted against the bill.

In the event that the two committees vote to approve the start of a formal vote in the House of Representatives to impeach the US President, the House will begin to officially vote on the bill.

The US Constitution states that a president can be impeached and removed from office for “high crimes and misdemeanours”.

In contrast, senior Democrats argued that the actions of House Republicans this week showed that the GOP was beholden to “MAGA extremism” (Make America Great Again) and Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Republicans voted to censure Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat who has been one of Trump’s harshest critics, for his role in the investigations into the former president.

“House Republicans are focusing on their extremism, their conspiracy theories, and submission to Donald Trump,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies told reporters Thursday.NBC NewsAmerican.
