The Mobile Time website released the results of a recent survey, conducted in partnership with Opinion Box, where o WhatsApp was named the most important app for Brazilian internet users during the period analyzed.

The survey interviewed 2,033 Brazilians with internet access and owners of at least one smartphone, during the 13th and 22nd of March 2024. Meta’s messaging app was already in the lead in terms of importance of user use in December, when a survey similar was done.

In the previous period, WhatsApp had been voted the most important by 55% of those surveyed. Now, in March, this number rose to 58%. And it was women who increased their preference for the app: 61% of them, versus 54% of them.

Regarding age, teenagers and adults kept WhatsApp, in the words of the study, “present on the home screen”: 64% of users between 16 and 29 years old, compared to 56% of users between 30 and 49 years old, and these, in turn, they prefer the app more than 54% of those over 50 years old.

The same goes for classes A and B of society, with 60% of individuals from this part keeping the Meta messenger in easy access on their smartphones. In classes C, D and E, the number changes to 58% and 54%, respectively.

Meta doesn’t live on WhatsApp alone and, according to Teletime research, the leadership of the messaging app was succeeded by the other two apps from the company led by Mark Zuckerberg: Instagram came in second place, and Facebook came in third.

“Insta”, despite having a 90% installation base, is on the home screen of “only” 51% of users. Facebook has a 79% installed base and 33% allocations on the home screen.

Other interesting information from the survey also points to WhatsApp as the most opened app daily (51%), followed by Instagram (22%). In the gaming sector, Candy Crush was the most searched for in app stores, but only 12% of respondents admitted using their devices to play it.
