Residential Campsite Struggles: Legal, Administrative & Financial Problems Cause Electricity & Water Debt

This residential campsite has been mired in legal, administrative and financial problems for years. The condominium is in liquidation but the forty inhabitants no longer have confidence in the college of liquidators. For years, they refused to pay for water and electricity from the common meters, believing that the accounts of the liquidators were not correct. We are talking about a debt of €30,000 for electricity and €25,000 for water.

RESA installed a budget meter a few weeks ago. But this one not being supplied, the current will be automatically cut off shortly. However, some residents have begun to repay their debt. But they will still suffer from the deprivation of electricity. This is the case of Sandrine Coulouse and her neighbor, Mrs. Ainaux. “I paid €150 per month, says Sandrine Coulouse. But the liquidators use a third of this sum to repay the debt. And with this money, they want to take other residents to court. They also want to use this money to pay their fees…”

We suspect that the liquidators do not have the same vision of the situation. “We are fed up… If someone wants to take our place, let him do it, explained Olivier Hamal, president of the college of liquidators. !”

The forty or so residents would prefer to pay RESA directly without going through the trio of liquidators, “who do not agree with RESA’s budget counter because they can no longer fiddle with the accounts as they want, adds a resident of the campsite. He it would be enough if we had the possibility of paying ourselves on the RESA account number.”

The problem is that no one wants to take over the hot potato of debt management. The Commune, which is trying to calm the situation, cannot do so either, since these are private places.

Requisition?

In the meantime, the power cut will have serious consequences for several families with young children. “I have a daughter who is asthmatic and who needs aerosol every day,” laments Sandrine Coulouse.

“We will see this Monday what we can do with the CPAS, indicates the mayor Frédéric Bertrand. It is not easy. Contrary to what some inhabitants claim, I cannot requisition accommodation at Cap Fun like that (Editor’s note: the Hirondelle campsite in Oteppe. We are in the middle of the season and they are full. Similarly, we cannot install our generator at Renoz because as the installations are not compliant, in the event of a problem, we would take responsibility.”

In short, more than ever, the situation seems inextricable.
