A dispute occurred between a number of residents of the town of Eddeh in Batroun District and the owners of a poultry farm that did not meet the legal requirements for years, as a result of which unpleasant odors spread in the atmosphere of the town and neighboring towns.
The residents expressed their “overwhelming dissatisfaction with the health damage that the farm has been causing for years and the failure of the reviews to find a solution to this issue.”
They called on the environmental and health authorities and all officials concerned with the health of citizens to “work immediately to put an end to this prolonged negligence on the part of the farm owners, who only care about their interests and making profits, without caring about the health of the people.”
The people called on the Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, to visit the town and take a closer look at the situation, threatening escalatory steps if their demands were not met to put an end to the project to displace them from their homes.
