2023-09-29 13:47:25

The media office of the Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyad, issued a statement announcing that “a series of intensive communications were conducted in the past days to resolve the issue of hospital payments for dialysis, and they were secured according to the following:

The Ministry of Finance transferred to the Central Bank of Lebanon the dues for the first three months of this year in preparation for the start of the payment process.

Work is currently underway between the Ministries of Health and Finance to prepare bills for the next four months, and they will be sent to the Central Bank upon completion in the next two weeks.

After communicating with the Acting Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Wassim Mansouri, the opening of an account was accelerated in accordance with the Central Bank’s conditions to disburse the advance of one thousand billion Lebanese pounds that was approved to the Ministry of Public Health to pay hospital dues for dialysis patients.

The Ministry will begin disbursing funds from this advance at the end of next week to cover violations of financial ceilings.”

The statement added, “As a result of the above, Minister Al-Abyad appreciates the cooperation shown by both the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Lebanon to resolve the issue of dialysis dues, stressing his keenness to accelerate the payment of hospital dues according to the agreed upon mechanisms within a period not exceeding six weeks from the deadline for submitting invoices.” .

Al-Abyad said: “One of the first priorities of the Ministry of Public Health is to secure the patient’s interests and the conditions for his treatment, and it is a shared responsibility between the Ministry, hospitals and doctors. The Ministry will not tolerate in any way any party that asks patients to pay illegal financial discrepancies.”
