Resounding return of Diam’s: between contradiction and complacency

Diam’s, whose real name is Mélanie Georgiades, is a fascinating personality. Hitmaker (“DJ”, “The Dumpling”…), she was also a veritable pen of rap (“If it was the last”, “I Am Somebody”), capable of fining a bunch of guys in a discipline that has remained too masculine. But it is above all for her descent into psychological hell and her abrupt withdrawal from the stage, accompanied by her conversion to Islam, that the “mother of French rap” marked the spirits.
