In week 4 (ending January 28, 2023) in Canada, SSDVR participating laboratories reported 6,791 SARS-CoV-2 detections out of 59,990 tests (11.3% positive). Among respiratory viruses other than SARS-CoV-2, where testing volumes are lower (range 7,711 to 28,217 tests), nearly all virus activity is stable or declining.
- Influenza activity continues to decline and remains at inter-seasonal levels. Influenza A accounts for almost all influenza detections in Canada (249 detections; 0.9% positive).
- Compared to pre-pandemic seasons, RSV activity remains within expected levels typical of this time of year (1,885 detections; 7.9% positive).
- Activity of all respiratory viruses other than SARS-CoV-2 is near expected levels for this time of year.
