Un prototype you Mitsubishi SpaceJet was dismantled at Moses Lake in Washington State, a month following the official announcement of the abandonment of the Japanese single-aisle program.

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (MITAC) had settled in Moses Lake to complete the development of the M90, a program terminated by parent company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on February 7, 2023, two years following the program was suspended. The pictures of dismantling of one of the six prototypes assembled for the certification campaign (MSN10001 registered JA21MJ) were released on March 8 on social networks.

The Japanese aircraft manufacturer had already put the program “in the fridge” in November 2020. The formerMRI originally expected in 2013, renamed SpaceJet in June 2019, expected to enter service mid-2020 with launch airline ANA (All Nippon Airways, for its subsidiary ANA Wings), already following several delays. The aircraft made its maiden flight in November 2015 in Japan, the teams then moved to Moses Lake to carry out the certification campaign (Boeing had signed an agreement covering development, marketing and following-sales service).
