After two days of suspension due to the weekend, the talks between the Chadian government and the politico-military movements resumed this Sunday, March 27 in Doha, Qatar. The emirate’s capital has hosted the talks since March 13. For this resumption, the mediators made a report of the requirements of the three rebel groups met last week. And, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chérif Mahamat Zène, who was to go to a regional meeting on the Sahel, had to give up his seat as chief negotiator on behalf of the Chadian State, to the former leader of the opposition, Saleh Kebzabo, vice-president of the government committee in charge of negotiations.

The Qatari negotiators met the government delegation for half an hour this Sunday for a progress report. The representatives of Ndjamena also gave the mediators a document entitled “draft agreement”. Who asked for a few days to propose to the government a summary of the demands of the rebel groups. 80% of the requirements of these groups overlap, indicates a source who was able to consult the documents.

This Monday, it will be the turn of the politico-military movements to meet the mediation. In addition to the demands, they will also be able to seek clarification on an alleged assassination attempt on Takilal Ndolassem, the spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of the South, one of the movements present in Doha.

The information published on social networks, via a fake account created in the name of the Ministry of the Interior, caused misunderstanding and a wave of indignation. Contacted by RFI, the person concerned speaks rather of a call for murder and not of an assassination attempt.
