On January 27, Binh Duong Provincial Police said that they are holding Tran Chi Thien (29 years old, from Ca Mau) to investigate the crime of fraud to appropriate property.

Thien used to be the Director of Dong Duong Group Real Estate Investment and Development Company Limited (Thoi Hoa Ward, Ben Cat Town, Binh Duong).
After being prosecuted, Thien fled and was wanted by the investigating agency. Recently, when Thien returned to his hometown to celebrate Tet, he was arrested by scouts.
According to the filing, from September 2019 to October 2019, Thien signed a deposit contract with two customers to transfer two land lots belonging to the Green City Project (Minh Thanh commune, Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc). The total transfer value is 1.1 billion VND.
Thien has received a deposit of a total of 660 million VND and pledged to complete the procedure for transferring land use rights by December 2019.
However, by the deadline as committed, the customer did not see Thien handing over the land. When customers arrived at the headquarters, they found that Indochina Group Company was closed and no longer operating.
Receiving the denunciation, the investigating agency investigated and prosecuted the case and prosecuted the accused for fraud and appropriation of property.
