These two Canadians had married decades ago, then separated after a few years. They never would have guessed that 55 years later, fate would bring them together again.
When Lynn Maloney went on a date with someone he didn’t know in 1968, he never guessed it would change his life.
He took it to a curling club, a hobby that Lana didn’t particularly enjoy.
Despite this difference, love at first sight occurred between the lovebirds. It wasn’t until two years later that they promised each other for life.
They then had a baby girl. However, nearly 15 years later, their marriage was plagued with several difficulties. They nevertheless kept in touch through their children and grandchildren.
“We were there for each other,” Lana told CTV News.
The following decades were quite difficult for the couple: their children faced health problems and Lana’s best friend was now deceased.
“Each challenge has taught us never to take things for granted,” Lynn said.
The man thus realized that he made a mistake by separating from his ex-wife. He indicated his intentions to Lana, where the latter expressed the same sentiments to him.
After challenges, happiness
The challenges weren’t over for the couple; Lynn was diagnosed with cancer. According to the doctors, he only had three months left to live. The couple decided to make the most of the time they had left.
But a twist: the man had fought his cancer, and was now in remission.
Lynn took the opportunity to ask for Lana’s hand. Almost 55 years after their first marriage, Lynn and Lana celebrated their second.
“We have a great life together,” Lana said with a smirk.
