While some major gaming companies are considering acquiring modern IPs and developers, like Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard King and Sony PlayStation with Bungie and Destiny, Atari is turning its attention to the past. A few months ago, Atari acquired a large number of old IP, including the rights to the Bubsy game. Why should we bring it back? Because speaking to MinnMax (thanks to the game’s developers), Atari CEO Wade Rosen has now put out a call among indie developers to come up with ideas for a brand new game in the series. Specifically, Rosen said he’s looking for pitches that are “fun, innovative, and tongue-in-cheek” and that “the last thing anyone wants right now is a truly universal platformer. That certainly means Atari has a lot to offer in this newly acquired company.” The first step in the IP treasure trove includes bringing back the platform series. Will you play a new Bubsy game?
