After the beach last week, the Place aux Foires turned into a cooking track on Saturday afternoon. Although this year marked its first edition, this particular race had not been held for more than 25 years in Marche. It is the ASBL Foires en fête which decided to bring back this event by baptizing it “La Foireuse”. “The idea of the Cuisitax race emerged when we wanted to create a new event and create something different than what we offer throughout the year, explains Marie-Ève Bouillon, president of the ASBL Festive fairs. We therefore remembered that this kind of event already existed 25 years ago and which had already had a lot of scope and enthusiasm at the time”.
An idea that was good since it was around thirty teams, made up of 10 people, who competed for four hours, between 3 and 7 p.m. on Saturday. The course stretched over 900 m. The starting line was fixed at the Avenue du Monument, in front of the Carrefour Market store, before passing on the Place aux Foires where the teams could take turns. Then, the cuistax made the thighs work going up on the avenue de la Toison d’Or. Then, a nice little descent to the Mocrie car park to relieve a little muscle pain.
Finally, the Cuistax returned to the Avenue du Monument, where the chicanes, a swimming pool and various crossing obstacles are located in order to toughen up the race a little.
The public came in large numbers to support the participants and the day ended in style with an evening hosted by DJ Arno.
“I see that there is really a craze around La Foireuse and the Cuistax teams were fully into it. This first edition is a success” concludes Marie-Ève Bouillon.
