The railway project, which opens the way for revolutionary changes in the transport sector in the GCC countries, has been decided to start in December 2030. The railway project will connect all the Gulf countries.
The date for the implementation of the project was approved at the 25th meeting of the GCC Transport Ministers in Muscat. UAE’s Etihad Rail completed 900 km and commenced freight services in February. Saudi Rail completed 200 km of Ras Al Khair-Daman route.
Oman Rail and Etihad Rail have established a joint venture to acquire land to connect Suhar Port with the UAE National Rail.
Infrastructure development and design of Qatar Rail has been completed. The first phase of the parallel bridge project connecting Bahrain with the GCC railway network and the design of Kuwait’s 111 km railway track have been completed. Once the project connecting each country is completed, the GCC rail will provide a lot of convenience to the people and lead to a leap in development.
