The Moroccan educational landscape is rising from its ashes. After the crisis which swept away the education system, efforts are being made to reform the education system. In this wake, preschool occupies a primordial place. Aware of this importance, the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) has made significant efforts to strengthen this pillar, particularly in rural areas of the Al Hoceïma region.

At the heart of this approach, the third phase of the INDH was marked by the creation of 159 educational units between 2019 and 2023. These structures, comprising 172 classrooms in total, were established in all rural communities in the region. , from Aït Yassine to Tissa. This ambitious revolution mainly aims to democratize access to preschool education and to fight against school dropouts, particularly among girls, in areas where educational opportunities are often limited.

Around 13,000 children benefited from this expansion, including 5,070 girls, who had the opportunity to take their first steps at school thanks to these educational units. Under the supervision of 172 teachers and supervisors, these children benefited from a stimulating educational environment, conducive to their cognitive, social and emotional development.

These projects, carried out in partnership with the Zakoura Foundation and the Regional Academy of Education and Training of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma, are not limited to the simple creation of infrastructure. They also strive to guarantee the quality of learning and favorable teaching conditions for the children concerned. In addition, they actively encourage access to primary schools, thus helping to lay a solid foundation for a successful educational journey for these young children.

A concrete example of the impact of these initiatives is the Douar El Khrachfa preschool unit in the commune of Rissana Chamalia. With its two classrooms, it accommodates 35 children, including 22 girls. The creation of this unit, which required a budget of approximately 846,793 dirhams, demonstrates the financial and logistical commitment of the INDH in favor of preschool education.

In addition, this program aims to promote early childhood and support the schooling of children, particularly rural girls, highlighting the holistic vision of the INDH in terms of education and human development.

It is undeniable that the preschool phase has a leading role in preparing children for their formal education. Recognizing this impact on children’s cognitive, social and emotional skills, as well as their subsequent academic career, the INDH has placed this stage of education at the heart of its third phase. By focusing on the rural world, the INDH also demonstrates its commitment to closing educational gaps and providing equitable learning opportunities for all Moroccan children.
