The debut as coach of Vélez Sarsfield, of “Tigre” Ricardo Gareca, could have been round, but he had to settle for a draw against Platense 1-1, playing at home at José Amalfitani de Liniers.
The match corresponding to the seventh round of the Argentine Professional League started well for Vélez, when at 42′ Osorio headed the ball into the net.
In the second half, in an unfortunate action by a defender from Velez, the shot executed by Nico Castro at 62′ changed trajectory, entering next to Burián’s right-hand post, establishing the final 1-1.
With this result, Vélez Sarsfield added 9 points (14th place), while Platense reached 7 points (23rd place).
