The designer Sofía Sarkany died on March 29, 2021 at the age of 31 in a clinic in Florida, United States, where she was hospitalized due to cervical cancer. A few days before she had become the mother of Félix with her partner, Tomás Allende, through the surrogacy method, since upon finding out about her diagnosis she decided to freeze her eggs. In this way Sofía came to fulfill her last wish: to be a mother. Surrounded by the love of her family, the eldest daughter of the most prestigious shoemaker in Argentina, who inherited her passion for art and design, she closed her eyes a week after meeting her baby. Before entering intensive care, she told her parents three words that define her life: “I was very happy.” That was her farewell.
Shortly after three years of his death, Ricky Sarkany gave an interview to Luis Majul and Esteban Trebucq on El Observador Radio where he opened his heart and presented a story full of emotions, in which he not only referred to the loss of his daughter , but also how life goes on after so much pain.
“I have four daughters and one is here with me, and she is also present in everything I do. And that’s Sofía, today I can’t hug her and give her that kiss on the cheek that she loved so much,” with a broken voice and crudeness in the story, the businessman began by remembering his daughter, of whom he highlighted: “If I I have to think about everything he did, a wonderful work, including his greatest work, which was Félix.”

After that, the businessman acknowledged that Sofía is in his heart: “She accompanies me every moment. I had the privilege of spending more than 30 years in this earthly life with her, I learned a lot from what I know about her and my children, and today she accompanies me from another plane. Ricky recalled a recent interview by Majul with Gustavo Yankelevich: “He talked about how coincidences do not exist, and I can assure you that they do not exist, that a series of steps are taken in life and they are all related. “I cannot understand why what happened happened and why she is not here today, and it seems to me that the one who should be here, perhaps because of everything she did, for her creativity, for her vision, is her. Regarding his first steps as a businessman, he would remember a conversation he had with his father, at a time when the company did not offer sales to the public, only wholesale: “I wanted to exploit what my father knew how to do so much, which was making different shoes. And I insisted that we had to open to the public, and he told me that it is easier to sell a thousand pairs of shoes to the owner of a shoe store than one pair to a woman, and he is right, but I wanted us to sell what we did, that the user and the client are the same person.”
So much was the insistence that that moment of sale to the public would come with an advertisement and a special detail: his name would appear, since the advertisement read: “Ricky Sarkany, the most expensive shoe in the country at factory price, is now sold to the public.” ”.
