A City Transformed: Festive Hubs and Waterfront Celebrations
The main celebratory venues span the 11th November Embankment, Old Riga, Vermanes Garden, Victory Park, the Esplanade, and the area near the Riga Congress Centre, as reported by EuropeSays. The 11th November Embankment serves as a central anchor point, hosting day-long workshops, gastronomic events, and live musical performances by notable acts such as Auļi, Citi zēni, Sudden Lights, Alejas, Atvara, and Ozols.
As evening falls, the festivities pivot toward the grand “My Score — Riga” concert at 22:00. Following the performance, a synchronized laser, fountain, and video show illuminates the Daugava River, transitioning directly into a late-night DJ program.
Pre-War Icons and High-Speed Thrills on the Streets
Motorsport enthusiasts have unique attractions to explore during the weekend. The Red Bull Showrun brings high-octane excitement to the capital, featuring a Formula 1 car, drift shows, rally vehicles, and a special driving performance by Latvian driver Mārtiņš Sesks.
Adding historical gravity to the horsepower, the legendary 1930s Auto Union Type C—designed on principles by Ferdinand Porsche—makes a rare public appearance. Driven from the Motor Museum to the Freedom Monument, the pre-war racing car is on display for visitors from 12:00 to 18:00. This marks the first time the engine of this historic vehicle has been heard on Riga’s streets in nearly 30 years, since its last appearance in 1997.
Culture, Crafts, and Family Programming Across the Capital
Beyond the asphalt spectacles, Old Riga’s historic lanes function as an open-air theater featuring street musicians, mimes, pantomime artists, and movement theater troupes leading up to a mass flash mob at Town Hall Square. Dome Square hosts a traditional crafts fair throughout the day.
Vermanes Garden showcases an international program featuring exhibitions from foreign embassies and Riga’s sister cities, alongside evening concerts and the continuation of the Re Rīga! festival of contemporary circus and street art under the theme “Together.” Meanwhile, Victory Park caters to families with interactive installations, bubble shows, European street artists, and an unusual art performance featuring live horses.
Sports programming is equally robust. The Esplanade hosts the traditional 24-hour “Match of the Shores” basketball tournament running through Sunday, while the “Riga Football Festival — 2026” unfolds near the Riga Congress Centre.

To accommodate the influx of visitors and manage crowds across multiple zones, municipal authorities have implemented substantial logistical changes. Public transport throughout Riga is entirely free for the duration of the weekend, alongside most municipal parking facilities. However, significant traffic restrictions remain in place, with the 11th November Embankment and Old Riga closed entirely to motor vehicles, prompting organizers to urge attendees to rely on the complimentary transit network.
