Riham Abdel Ghafour Sues Man Over Photo Taken at Screening

Egyptian actress Riham Abdel Ghafour has taken legal action against the individual who captured and circulated a controversial photo of her during a private screening of her film. The move stems from the incident which she says has caused harm to her entire family, and her husband has refused to forgive, leading her to pursue the case through the courts.

Details of the Incident

Abdel Ghafour explained that the photo was taken without her knowledge during a special screening for her film, “Khareta Raas El Sanah,” in December 2025. She described being in a dark cinema where everyone was focused on the screen. She was sitting with her right foot crossed over her left knee and had adjusted her dress slightly, a move she says was not inappropriate. She stated that all attendees were invited guests who were there to support her and the film’s production.

“مديني ضهره للسينما وقاعد مستنيني والله عشان أعمل كده بس يقوم مصور زووم إن وفلاش”

She expressed surprise and anger, stating she did not expect betrayal and believes the person who took the photo was ill-intentioned. She discovered the person’s identity and initiated legal proceedings against them.

Legal Questioning Began After Family Insult

The actress revealed that the individual is now facing legal questioning and investigation. This decision marks a departure from her usual approach of tolerance, as she emphasized that the incident affected not only her but her husband, brother, and children as well, who felt insulted by the image’s spread.

She stated that she does not seek a harsh punishment but hopes for a verdict that educates the individual and prevents such actions in the future. Abdel Ghafour also mentioned that she received negative comments about her appearance and wrinkles, particularly after a period of mourning her father’s death, which left her feeling let down by public support.

Stance on the Case

Abdel Ghafour emphasized that her husband's refusal to forgive is a key reason for her insistence on pursuing the case. She explained that he feels dishonored by the incident, leading her to leave the matter to the law.

“يعني مثلا جوزي مش موافق إن أنا أتنازل، لإنه حس بإهانة، فخلاص سايبة القانون ياخد مجراه”

The legal process has seen an individual who allegedly spread the image with offensive comments detained on bail in September 2026 pending further investigations, according to a report on the case.
